Medical Transport
EMA’s emergency medical services include both normal and critical medical transport and emergency care.
Non-Urgent Patient Transport
You can book non-urgent patient transport by calling our 24/7 number: +358 10 3211 150
Non-urgent patient transport is suitable when a patient needs ambulance transport to the hospital, but it is not an emergency. You can also pre-order non-urgent patient transport from us, e.g., for a doctor’s appointment.
Urgent Patient Transport
EMA also provides urgent patient transport. Urgent patient transport cannot be ordered through our emergency number – urgent transport tasks are coordinated through the Finnish Emergency Response Centre. Call the emergency number 112 if you need urgent help.
Do I Need Urgent or Non-Urgent Patient Transport?
This list helps you understand when non-urgent patient transport is appropriate and when you should call the emergency number.
Call EMA when:
- Your patient is going to a scheduled doctor’s appointment or examination.
- The patient’s general condition has slowly deteriorated, and there is no immediate danger.
- The emergency centre advises ordering non-urgent ambulance transport.
Call 112 when:
- The patient has a disturbance in basic vital functions.
- The patient needs urgent treatment, and help must arrive within minutes.
- You are unsure about the urgency.
